I consider my vote to be important.

Sent by a retired teacher:

I consider my vote to be important.

The people that govern us should listen to our voices.
Even if you no longer live in New York, please copy and paste this email to anyone that may be voting in the coming primary.

We have a week to remind as many people as possible how Term Limits were abolished.
Let us, together, send a message that our votes are not given to representatives that ignore our wishes. Thank you.

On October 23rd 2008, the City Council saw fit to ignore the wishes of the people and to do away with Term Limits. It did not matter that the citizens of this city had voted for term limits TWO TIMES. Legally, the City Council was allowed to do this. Was it morally fitting for them to pursue this action? That is something each of us must decide.

The chart below is from NY1. It is accurate as far as I can tell.
You could also go to the following address for corroboration: . www.nydailynews.com/ny_local/2008/10/23/2008-10-23_roll_call_breakdown_how_the_city_council.html

Any search on the internet should bring you a lot of commentary on the City Council's action. I have highlighted the council members in red or blue.

The blue color represents those members of the Council that respected the will of the people
.

Names with an asterisk would not have been allowed to serve again unless Term Limits were overturned.

Some of the City Council are now attempting to run for other offices: Comptroller, Public Advocate, etc. Please check the chart below to see if they respected your vote before casting your ballot.

I will not endorse any specific candidate.
However, I will be voting for candidates that respected the desires of the citizens. I will be voting blue.

I know not what others may do, but my vote will not go to anyone that ignored the will of the people on Term Limits.

I urge you to help turn them out of office - in this primary and in the upcoming election.

Thank you for your encouragement to vote. At times I have even thought, what difference could one vote make. It may seem discouraging at times to consider, the "electorial college" making the decisions for us, but then again what if everyone thought that way, right? I guess a whole bunch of "one votes" can change the world.
