Yes there are som...I think many people forget that. Yes there are some bad and good teachers just like dentists and car salesman. Everyday I deal with one of the most important commodities, children. I'm all for linking my pay to my students' test scores as long as two tests are given. One at the beginning of the year as a baseline and one at the end. I shouldn't be held responsible for the 8 years of bad math kids come to me with in high school or the fact that they had substitutes 4 times in school for extended periods of time because the elementary teachers are always out having babies or the fact that the average teacher quits within the first few years. Have you ever looked into the turnover rate for teachers? When my kids show the improvement, I expect to be shown the money. The money isn't out there!
